Online Passport Renewal – Actions For Renewing The Information
Posted by shbanchang on November 30, 2011
The process involving rush United States passport renewal can be done by mail for the most part and for other times, it must be done in person. In order to know which way is the right one for the situation, the information below includes both processes. Regardless of how it is done, the most important thing to have proper documentation at all times.
How To Apply
When applying by mail, the person who is applying needs to be able to check off each one of the following categories. The first is the previously held passport that is not damaged and the second is that the original card was issued after the individual was 16. The third is if the original card was issued within the past 15 years and finally the passport needs to be in the same name of the applicant. If the name is different, proof of name change documentation will be required. I feel that online pass ports is the way to go.
DS-82 Form
For individuals who are not US residents but hold a previous passport and are eligible for the DS-82 form, they can submit their application by mail. This can be done even if it is the first US passport that the person has ever applied for. All submissions need to be sent in a manila envelope that will fit the paperwork without bending it and should be sent via certified mail for tracking reasons.
US Citizens In Canada
In order to safely mail these items, it is a good idea to use a manila envelope to transport the documentation so it will not be folded. Also, US residents living in Canada can submit their applications by mail as well and send them to the address on the form. Security is the most important ingredient to have when performing a task such as this by mail.
US Citizens Abroad
When an individual resides outside of Canada or the US, they will need to visit the local US embassy to apply for passport documentation. Individuals who are behind on their child support payments may be delayed receiving or ultimately denied a passport. When an individual owes over 2500 dollars in child support, they will automatically be denied and required to pay the debt off before becoming eligible again.
DS-11 Form
Applying in person requires the individual to fill out a DS-11 form and not sign it until they have their meeting with the acceptance agent. During the meeting, the agent will announce when it is time to sign the documentation. In addition to the form, a social security number is required and individuals who cannot supply one or refuse to supply one will be denied a passport.
Required Documents
Along with the social security number, a birth certificate or other form of citizenship is required. The documentation that is supplied during the process will be returned at the end. The documentation is sent to the applicant via mail with their new passport to their home address.
